In the spring semester of academic year 2011-2013, 3 students will benefit from the Erasmus mobility program.
Durmuş Ali ÇÖLLÜ and Hatice Kübra HARMANKAYA, students in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Science will study in Spain at Universidad de Sevilla, while Uğur YILMAZ, student in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering will study in France at Grenoble INP.
The International Relations Office organized an orientation meeting for the students, making important reminders about their rights and responsibilities.

The OECD Public Affairs and Communications Department (PAC), located at OECD Headquarters in Paris, is looking for interns to join the Public Affairs team for a 6 month Internship starting in December 2011 /January 2012. The main focus of the internship will be to help organise the Annual OECD Forum which takes place on 22-23 May 2012.

Spend your interahip abroad with Izmir University
Izmir University which gave a start to erasmus student and staff mobility now gives its students the chance to spend their internships abroad with the erasmus program.
Starting its erasmus student and staff mobility in the academic year 2011-12, Izmir University got the right to receive and Extended Erasmus Charter from the European Commission. Izmir University students will be able to do their internships in EU countries in a position related to their field of study, starting from the academic year 2012-13.

Work Experience in Europe
Izmir University Rector Prof. Dr. Kayhan Erciyeş stated that the Erasmus placement mobility program offers an opportunity for students to gain practical work experience in the their field of education. He also added that work experience abroad will make them qualified individuals, giving them an important advantage in the job search after graduation.
Associate, undergraduate and graduate students will be able to participate in erasmus placements by receiving erasmus funds. The duration of placements is 2 to 12 months for associate degree students, and 3 to 12 months for undergraduate and graduate students.

UKLA Abroad education and career consultants will open a stand at Izmir University on December 14th Wednesday, giving information about study / work abroad programs. 3 lucky students who visit the stand will earn discount coupons worth 100 $ for the Work and Travel program.

After sending its first erasmus students to Finland and Romania and signing 15 erasmus agreements with 10 different countries, Izmir University started to implement the erasmus staff training program. Aslı Kuşoğlu from the international relations office visited University of Piteşti, Romania during the dates 21-15 November. During her training visit, Kuşoğlu examined the general workload of the international office, managing incoming-outgoing student procedures and made several observations. She also had the opportunity to compare these practices with Izmir University processes.

Kuşoğlu stated that meeting with the international officer Ramona Alecu has been very helpful. She also had the chance to meet Erasmus students Ayberk Kaynak and Çağrı Duygu from Izmir University, who are currently studying at Pitesti.

Izmir University will soon start to implement teaching staff mobility, hosting professionals in their fields.

Keimyung University allocated its foreign student scholarship quota for Izmir University student Nadir Fırat this year.

The one person quota given to foreign students by the South Korean government was allocated to Izmir University this academic year. Nadir Fırat, students at Izmir University department of English Language Teaching will spend the 2011-12 fall semester at Keimyung University as an exchange student with scholarship. Having sent its first Erasmus students to Finland and Romania, Izmir University aims to increase its foreign student traffic in the near future.

Nadir Fırat described his thoughts and opinions about being an exchnange student in South Korea as such: "I believe that every student should go experience this. I would like to offer mu sincere thanks to my university for giving me this chance. Before I came here, I did not know much about Korean people and culture, but after my arrival, I had the chance to get to know the culture and meet with exchange students from 20 different countries. Being here will give me a very important advantage in my future teaching career, since I have the opportunity to observe the education system in a different country, get lectures from Korean, American and German teachers and the methods used in English language teaching.
